Engineering Leveling Guide for players below level 90

This Engineering leveling guide will show you the fastest and easiest way how level your Engineering skill up from 1 to 800.

Engineering is the best combined with Mining because if you level Engineering with Mining you will save a lot of gold. Check out the Mining leveling guide if you want to level Mining. But, the fastest way to level Engineering is to buy everything from the Auction House.

If you are low on gold, I recommend you to try this Gold Making Guide, it can help you to make loads of gold.

If you are still leveling your character or you just started a new alt, I recommend you to use a leveling guide. You can level your character to level 110 in 8 days with this guide.

Engineering Leveling Guide 1 - 50

First, visit any trainer in the main cities of old Azeroth - just ask a guard, and learn Apprentice Engineering.

If you have a Gnome character you should visit my Engineering leveling guide for Gnomes instead of this one.

Buy a Blacksmith Hammer from the Blacksmith supply vendor, it's near your trainer.

  • 1 - 30
    60 x [Rough Blasting Powder] - 60 Rough Stone

You might even reach 40 with this recipe. You will need the 60 Rough Blasting Powder later, so keep these.

50 - 132

Visit your trainer, and learn Journeyman Engineering. Requires level 10.

  • 100 - 105
    5 x [Clockwork Box] - 15 Bronze Bar

Note: This item is supposed to give skill points on disassembly, but it's currently bugged. You should try to disassemble one and write an e-mail to me if it has been fixed.

If it has been fixed, then make 13 of these and then disassemble those to reach 125.

132 - 205

Visit your trainer, and learn Expert Engineering. Requires level 20.

  • 150 - 160
    15 x [Bronze Framework] - 30 Bronze Bar, 15 Medium Leather, 15 Wool Cloth

By making them now, you might get a lot further - probably towards 160, then stop making these and only make more when you'll need them. Keep these too.
  • 160 - 175
15 x [Explosive Sheep] - 30 Heavy Blasting Powder, 15 Whirring Bronze Gizmo, 15 Bronze Framework, 30 Wool Cloth
  • 195 - 200
    7 x [Mithril Tubes] - 21 Mithril Bar

Stop making these when you reach 200.

205 - 275

Visit your trainer and learn Artisan Engineering. Requires level 35.

Engineering has the option at skill level 200 to specialize in Gnomish or Goblin Engineering. You can get the quests from your Engineering trainer. The main difference between both sides is the location of their respective teleporters and the ability of their trinkets. Some items require a specific specialization to use, while other items are crafted by one specialization but are usable by any engineer. Fortunately, most recipes that are crafted by one Specialization can be worn by both.

  • 200 - 216
20 x [Unstable Triggers] - 20 Mithril Bar, 20 Mageweave Cloth, 20 Solid Blasting Powder

    Save these.
  • 238 - 250
    20 x [Hi-Explosive Bomb] - 40 Mithril Casings, 20 Unstable Trigger, 40 Solid Blasting Powder

275 - 350

Visit your trainer, and learn Master Engineering. Requires level 50.

If you are still leveling your character and you are level 60, then at this point you can choose to go to Outland or Northrend. I recommend going to Northrend because it's a easier to level Engineering using materials from Northrend.

350 - 425

Visit your trainer and learn Grand Master Engineering. Requires level 65.

  • 333 - 385
    53 x [Explosive Decoy] - 53 Frostweave Cloth, 106 Volatile Blasting Trigger
  • 405 - 410
    10 x [Nitro Boosts] - 10 Tinker's Kit

You can buy the Tinker's Kit from the Engineering supply vendor near your trainer. Might need to make more.

420 - 500

Visit your trainer and learn Illustrious Engineering. Requires level 75.

  • 495 - 500
    1 x [Elementium Dragonling] - 2 Obsidium Bolts, 8 Electrified Ether, 16 Elementium Bar, 20 Embersilk Cloth

Check your Calendar in-game to see if the Darkmoon Faire is open, the event starts at 00:01 on the Sunday before the 1st Monday of each month.

You can gain +5 skill points by completing a single quest. Click here to read more about the quests.

500 - 580

Visit your trainer and learn Zen Engineering. Requires level 80.

  • 500 - 550
You will use these later on, so make all of them now. You might even need to make more of these, but this is about the minimum that is needed to reach 580.

25 x [Ghost Iron Bolts] - 75 Ghost Iron Bar
    15 x [High-Explosive Gunpowder] - 15 Ghost Iron Bar

Make a few [G91 Landshark] if you didn't reach 550.
  • 550 - 554
    4 x [Tinker's Kit] - 8 High-Explosive Gunpowder, 8 Ghost Iron Bolts, 8 Windwool Cloth

It's really important to stop making these at 554.
  • 579 - 580
    1 x [Tinker's Kit] - 2 High-Explosive Gunpowder, 2 Ghost Iron Bolts, 2 Windwool Cloth

580 - 800

Requires level 90. Things change a bit in Warlords of Draenor because you no longer learn the next rank from your trainer. You have to get a [Draenor Engineering] scroll to upgrade your maximum Engineering skill to 700. This scroll will also teach you a few basic recipes which you will use to level Engineering.

There are three ways to obtain this scroll:

580 - 626
There are three recipes that you can use to level, you only need to make one of these:

12x [Stealthman 54] - 24 x Blackrock Ore, 24 x True Iron Ore, 24 x Nagrand Arrowbloom

23 x [Mecha-Blast Rocket] - 138 x Blackrock Ore

23 x [Shieldtronic Shield] - 138 x True Iron Ore

[Stealthman 54] is usually the best choice unless Nagrand Arrowbloom is insanely overpriced at the Auction House.

624 - 800
Every Draenor recipe is really expensive at this point, so you should wait until you reach level 100, then you can jump to the Legion Engineering leveling guide.

WoW Leveling Guide 1-110 Do you want to reach level 110 fast?

I recommend Zygor's Leveling Guide. The guide is in an small window on your main screen in-game. All the detail that you need to complete the quest is included. You’ll never have to switch back to a website, or even the in-game main map to see where you have to go or what’s next. The guide is available for both Horde and Alliance.

I use Zygor's guide for leveling and I highly recommend it.
