I made this Enchanting guide because on some realms Strange Dust is really expensive and I found a great way to get a lot of Strange Dust for cheap. You will also be able to make some gold with this method and you will level your Enchanting from 1 to 110 without any cost at all.
I needed an Enchanter character to disenchant a lot of the items I stacked up in my bank, so I picked up Enchanting for my Warlock. I opened my Enchanting leveling guide, then I head over to the Auction House to buy some [Strange Dust]. I was shocked, it was really expensive. I decided to not buy them from the AH, so here is what I have done.
Level Tailoring and make Brown Linen Pants
I picked up Tailoring with one of my alt and I bought around 20 stack of [Linen Cloth]. It sells for between 50 and 90 silver on my realm, so the 20 stack cost me roughly 18 Gold.
You need at least a level 5 character, else you won't be able to pick up a new profession. You can level an alt character in like 20 minutes if you don't already have one. Or you can pick up tailoring for your current character if you don't have any other profession.
Now you need to level Tailoring to 30, that won't be hard because if you check out my Tailoring leveling guide, you can see that all you have to do is make [Bolt of Linen Cloth]. Make as many [Bolt of Linen Cloth] as you can.
Use all your [Bolt of Linen Cloth] and make [Brown Linen Pants]. Make sure you have a lot of space in your bags, it will make this a lot easier.
Disenchant the pants
Stop making the pants when you have only 1 bag space left. Open up your spellbook, and drag your Disenchant ability to your action bar. If you bind it to any key, you will disenchant these pants a lot faster, or you can just replace one of your already binded spell to disenchant until you are done with this.
The fastest way is to use a simple macro:
/cast Disenchant
/use Brown Linen Pants
When I disenchanted every pants I ended up with 120 Strange Dust and 40 Lesser Magic Essence. I think it's pretty good for 18 Gold.
Level Enchanting to 110
I had Enchanting skill of 58 at this point. Below you can find the recipes I made to reach Enchanting 110.
- 58-90
35 x [Enchant Bracer: Minor Health] - 35 Strange Dust
- 90-100
10 x [Enchant Bracer: Minor Stamina] - 30 Strange Dust
- 100-110
10 x [Greater Magic Wand] - 10 Simple Wood, 10 Greater Magic Essence
If you don't have that much Lesser Magic Essence, you can just continue to make [Enchant Bracer: Minor Stamina].
I had around 50 Strange Dust left, I sold those at Auction House for 22 gold, so I ended up with 4 gold profit and I got my Enchanting to 110.
This method is also a good money maker at lower levels. You can disenchant as many pants as you want. Just make sure you don't flood the market with too many Enchanting materials because then prices will go down and it will be harder to sell the dusts/essences.
