Enchanting guide 1-110 with no cost
This Enchanting guide is made to help you if Strange Dust is expensive on your server. You will be able to make some gold with this guide and you will be able to level your Enchanting with 0 cost from 1 to around 100.
Yesterday I needed an Enchanter character to disenchant a lot of the items I stacked up in my bank, so I picked up Enchanting profession for my Warlock, because I didn't really played with this character since season 3 started and I wanted to make use of this character. I opened my Enchanting leveling guide 1-450, but then when I checked AH to buy [Strange Dust] I was shocked. It was 8g / stack, well It's not that I can't afford it, but seriously It used to be like 80 silver / stack.

I decided to not buy them from the AH, so here is what I have done. I picked up Tailoring with one of my alt and I bought around 30 stack of [Linen Cloth].
[Linen Cloth] sells for between 25 and 50 silver on my realm, so the 30 stack cost me roughly 12 Gold.
Now before I continue this Enchanting guide, you have to realize that you need at least a character with level 5 or higher, else you won't be able to pick up a new profession. You can level an alt character in like 20-30 minutes if you don't already have one. Or you can pick up tailoring for your current character, if you don't have any other profession than Enchanting.
Now you need to level Tailoring to 30, that won't be hard because if you check out my Tailoring leveling guide, you can see that you have to make [Bolt of Linen Cloth] first, before you can make any Tailoring item.
20 stack of [Linen Cloth] is 400 [Linen Cloth] and when you turn all of these into Bolts it's 200 [Bolt of Linen Cloth], I am sure that you will reach Tailoring skill of 30 while you are making these.
Now you have 200 [Bolt of Linen Cloth], and propably you are thiking about WTF I am supposed to do with this many Bolts?! Well I can tell you, you will make 100 [Brown Linen Pants]. Make sure you have a lot of spaces in your bags, because it will make this easier.
Stop making these when you have only 1 bag space left. Open up your spellbook, and drag your Disenchant spell to your Action bar. If you bind it to any key, you will Disechant these pants a lot faster. Or you can just replace one of your already binded spell to disenchant until you are done with this. The fastest way is to use a simple macro:
/cast Disenchant
/use Brown Linen Pants
When I disenchanted every Pants I ended up with 120 Strange Dust and 40 Lesser Magic Essence. I think it's pretty good for 12 Gold.
I had Enchanting skill of 58 or something at this time.
- 58-90
35 x [Enchant Bracer: Minor Health] - 35 Strange Dust
- 90-100
10 x [Enchant Bracer: Minor Stamina] - 30 Strange Dust
- 100-101
1 x [Runed Silver Rod] - 1 Silver Rod, 6 Strange Dust, 3 Greater Magic Essence, 1 Runed copper Rod
- 101-110
9 x [Greater Magic Wand] - 9 Simple Wood, 9 Greater Magic Essence
If you don't have that much Lesser Magic Essence, you can just continue to make [Enchant Bracer: Minor Stamina].
I had around 50 Strange Dust left, I sold those at AH for 17 gold and I ended up with around 2 gold profit, while I leveled my Enchanting to 110.
This method is also a good money maker at lower levels. You can Disenchant as many pants as you want, and sell the dusts/essences. Just make sure you don't flood the market with too many, because then prices will go down.
Now you can just go check out my Enchanting Guide and continue skilling up your Enchanting.
Good Luck!

1-110 Guide: My Personal Experience
I decided to try this out, and here is how it went for me, using real numbers.
On Monday, I set my Auctioneer BottomScan to search out Linen Cloth at 2sp per unit or less. I work at home, so while working I let that run, and before lunch time on Wednesday I had my 600 Linen Cloth.
Total Cost for 600 Linen Cloth: 07gp 41sp 33cp
My AH mule was only level 1, so I spent about 20 minutes getting him up to level 5, at which time I purchased training for Tailoring and Enchanting skills. The cost of this training isn't mentioned in this guide, but it is negligible (a few copper).
I churned out my 300 Bolts of Linen Cloth and was well past 30 skill points in Tailoring by the time I was done, as promised by the guide. So, I purchased the recipe for crafting Brown Linen Robes (again, training cost negligible). There is a material for Brown Linen Robes not mentioned in the guide: Coarse Thread.
Total Cost for 100 Coarse Thread: 9sp
Now that I had all of my robe-making materials, I made my 100 Brown Linen Robes and subsequently disenchanted them. With my bag space, I was able to do this in 2 batches of 50. When I was finished, this is what I ended up with:
Enchanting Skill: 55
Strange Dust: 122
Lesser Magic Essence: 30
Somewhere between level 1 and 5, I had looted a lousy set of bracers, so I began enchanting them with [Enchant Bracer: Minor Health], as suggested by the guide. Before I began, I needed to purchase a Copper Rod and enchant it to make a Runed Copper Rod.
Cost for Copper Rod: 1sp 18cp
I happily enchanted my bracer repeatedly up to skill level 75, then wandered over to the trainer to train up...
... and this is where I hit my snag. At level 5, you can only train as an Apprentice in a Profession. To get from skill level 75-150, you need to train as a Journeyman, which requires you to be character level 10!!
Up to this point, I was very pleased with the guide, but I am currently at a pause after this disappointing setback.
My current status is as follows:
Total Coin Spent: 7gp 51sp 51cp
Enchanting Skill: 75
Strange Dust Remaining: 100
Lesser Magic Essence Remaining: 29
Character Level: 5
Character Level Required to Continue: 10
So, my opinion of this guide?
Does it work? Yes. It seems to work exactly as described (though, a stack of Strange Dust on Eldre'Thalas currently averages only around 3gp). However, you should be aware before you start that you need to be at least level 10 before you will be able to train your Enchanting skill up to ~110 as promised.
level 10
Thanks for this great post!
This was made for my higher level character not for the level 5 alt. The level 5 alt I suggested to level, is only made to make the Robes. In the Enchanting guide you can see, that you will need:
Enchanting Journeyman - Requires Enchanting (50) - Requires character level 10
I am planning to make an Enchanting and Tailoring guide or something like that, that will be more accurate and detailed. Because I used a lot more Tailoring recipe in order to level my Enchanting. :)
don't i need to have
don't i need to have enchanting level 25 to disenchant?
No, yiou only need level 1
No, yiou only need level 1 enchanting.
Yes, you need lvl 25
Yes, you need lvl 25 enchanting to be able to disenchant :( Just check 1 min. ago.
No, you only need lvl 1.
No, you only need lvl 1. Every item has a requirement, the lower the ilvl, the lower the DE level you need. You checked an item that required lvl 25, the next level up is lvl 50, then lvl 75, etc. There are items that require lvl 1 - they are ilvl 1 through 20.
well
Well thats true free G for me, got help from guild, took me learn enchanc 0-450 in 56 min. Haha so funny this side...
This would be great, except
This would be great, except for that the price of Linen cloth on Sargeras is over 1g per stack.
soloution
grab a character lvl 30+ and raid RFC or the alliance equivalent. Sell the greens on the AH, and sell the cloth in stacks of 20 for 2G ea. I'd suggest a mage or priest so that you can shield yourself from damage and cast AoE's to take out as many as possible.
Demon,
Near free enchanting
Hey. If you are leveling tailoring and enchanting you can combine the two thus paying half what you would pay for enchanting!!!! Just disenchant any greens and stuff you loot for easy and cheap leveling for enchanting got from 1-450 with just what I looted and couple of dream shards and stuff from tailoring. Very cheap and easy.
Pants dude, not robe. Guide

0-110 Enchanting guide
Superb!!!, took a little time and I ended up with about 90% of the mats stated in your guide after disenchanting 100 robes. The great thing is that I managed to level to 115 using all my strange dust and having 6 greater magic essence left. Basically I have a level 49 warrior who I leveled with no guides whatsoever so wandered around a bit randomly until I found this great 1-70 guide. Me being me wanted to start from scratch again just to see how quickly I could overtake my original warrior so I did, chose a warrior again and used my level 49 as a miner and basically cash machine for my adolescent new warrior. Being well bored of both mining and blacksmithing I was very exited to see your guide so scrapped my level 49's professions (Mining 275 & Blacksmithing 200+ cant remember now) and took up enchanting and tailoring. Its great, now all those "binds whan picked up" weapons will no longer be useless to me and with my new main character up to level 35 in 5 days as opposed to 49 in 2 months I have him mining and skinning lots and so it is time for some serious earning. Also my level 49's revered status gets me some decent prices in around town in IF. Thanks a bunch dude.
lolol
Awesome guide, thx alot.. had 20g profit
This guide really works!
I've been told and told repeatedly that enchanting is a very expensive start. Now i can brag to all my guild mates that I started for free! I took up tailoring and enchanting before starting this guide. It got me to 90 tailoring, and 110 enchanting. With profit!!
When I did this I came out with about:
135 Strange Dust
25 Lesser Magic Essence
I just followed the guide and it worked wonders. I highly recommend it for making money at a low level as well.
A great tip.
The addon Panda will DE anything in your bags. making this even more slack
hey umm how do i use panda
hey umm how do i use panda can u please reply to this
hey ummm LOOK IT UP
Google is your friend. panda probably has its own web page too. LAZY GETS YOU NOWHERE
Before I start
Current server prices (per stack of 20)
2-3gold Linen cloth stack
35 gold Strange dust price
would I make much money from buying linen cloth, making the dress, disenchanting and selling the dust? :)
Very good post, thanks a lot.

No. Disenchanting is a profession skill that is acquired with the profession.
"don't i need to have
"don't i need to have enchanting level 25 to disenchant?"
NO ... You need lvl 25 enchanting to dischant low level Blue items , that may be where you got that number from !!!
why does logic not work for you?
think about it: to level enchanting to 25, you need mats. to get the mats, you need to DE.
how then, by your logic, can you get mats before you DE, if you only learned DE at 25?
would be like: to find my matches, i need some light, but i cannot make light without my matches.
...Maybe because you learn to
...Maybe because you learn to disenchant at LEVEL 1? Nice logic stupidface.
LTR
Learn to read, he's saying The logic is if you COULDN'T DE at 1, how could you level up your enchanting.
Reading is a great tool.
With a LVL 80 farming or tailoring for you:
My main is a lvl 80, 435 tailoring priest. Mind you, if you're anything over 40, I'm sure this will do about the same or better (being that I was on a holy priest so it took a little longer).
I basically did one run of RFC and from that run, with the loot included, I got enough linen and green loot to disenchant my way to lvl 48 in 1 run.
Thanks !Cant belive all the
Thanks !Cant belive all the work you must have done to make this guide :)) Very helpfulthoe, saved me a LOT of g ! Thanks a lot !
Robes vs. Pants
Why exactly is it recommended to use [Brown Linen Robe] when you can make [Brown Linen Pants] for 1 less [Bolt of Linen Cloth] per combine and they disenchant exactly the same?
I was wondering the same, but
I was wondering the same, but went ahead and created 75 Brown Linen Robes anyway. Then I made a bunch of Brown Linen Pants, using less Bolt of Linen Cloth. The pants disenchanted into the same Strange Dust, maybe a few more Lesser Magic Essence, though that could have been coincidental.
In short: Create Brown Linen Pants, not Brown Linen Robes. :)
Tested and Confirmed: Pants
Tried 100 Brown Linen Pants. Got only to 65 Enchanting (on a blood elf, so 55 for the rest of you). End results was 117 Strange Dust and 37 Lesser Magic Essence.
Very close to what was read out for the robes, luck can account for the shortage.
BTW the macro a few posts up is wonderful with autoloot.
By the way, for the
By the way, for the enchanting of minor health and minor stamina to the bracers, you only need one bracer. You don't have to buy 35 different bracers to do your 35x of minor health enchanting. You can enchant the same bracer 35 times and more.
Really?
Can you really use only one bracer to do that?
Yeah you can! I just used
Yeah you can! I just used the bracer that I had equiped.
P.S. This Guide is Great! I just started about an hour (or two) ago and had a bunch of linen cloth from my other character, and i'm already at a lvl 70! Thanks so much!
not on my server
This is a good guide but i could improve it one way, instead of making "brown linen robe" make "heavy linen gloves" they require only 2 bolts of linen cloth and so save u on your linen cloth buying.
But my problem with this quide is that on my server a stack of 20 linen cloth doesnt cost 20-50sp but 2-3g making it just too expensive for me to be able to afford at level 10.
jubei-thos
by the way my server is jubei-thos
This guide
I'm Definitely going to check this out, due to the great responses of people I just have to get this combo on my still to make Alt.
I think this is a combo that any good guild can get lots and lots of profit from.
If it really works my thanks will be in advance!
Gloves!
Just to point out Heavy Linen Gloves are 1 less Bolt to produce, and give same percentage chance of both dust and essences, so as soon as you can make it, make them instead more for your moneys worth.
Xaeth->Emeriss and Burning Steppes
Yes, gloves works also. Just
Yes, gloves works also. Just make Bolts until you get to level of making gloves, same cost as pants, same chance on DE, no real difference except that you'll level up your tailoring more
If you are not in a hurry...
Of course if you don't mind a little farming, and linen cloth is expensive on your realm, just go to the windmill in westfall. The mobs there (defias) spawn as fast as you can kill em and they drop up to 3 each. you can get about 3 stacks every ten minutes. They also drop 7-10 level green items that can be disenchanted too. Personally, i never buy mats for ANY skill.(except the required vendor-bought items like thread, coal, salt etc) I have 10 toons on my main server. The first 3 i made (my highest level toons) took gathering skills only (mining, herbalism, skinning) i took production skills with my lower level alts, so my higher level toons have no problem supplying the others. you'd be amazed at how fast a master herbalist or miner with a swift mount can do a circuit in a starting zone. I realise that it is more time efficient for a higher level toon to just make money in the course of adventuring and then buy the low level matts for a "pittance" but i enjoy doing the leg-work.
Cheaper
Hey I was going to do this and before I made the brown linen robes I saw that the Brown Linen Pants where cheaper to make and they still give Strange Dust. Thought it might be helpful to someone
I updated the guide. It uses
I updated the guide. It uses the pants now, they changed the material cost of the pants in 3.1 or so, but I didn't notice.
Great Guide
About 3 weeks ago i decided that my, then Level 70, Paladin needed Professions, as he was yet to get any. So i got him JC and Alchem. I knew that they were expensive to level, but lucky for me i had 2 lvl 80's already, 1 with Herb, and 1 with Mining. I stumbled across this guide site and saved the name as i knew it would come in handy in future. My Paladin is now Happily lvl 80 with Maxed out JC and Alchem
And it just so happens it did. I've decided to level my 70 Lock, who i hadnt played since BC. He Already had 375 Tailoring, but his Herb was no longer needed as i had an 80 Druid with Herb. So i dropped it and picked up Chanting. Then as soon as i'd done that i came back here, and found this Amazing guide.
Linen Cloth is around 80-95 silver a stack on my Server. And Strange dust was going for 90 Silver EACH! After following this guide, buying the 20 Stacks of Cloth cost around 19G or so. Made all the Bolts, and then the Pants. After DE'ing i ended up with around 134 Dust and only 18 Essence. It has taken no longer then about 45 mins to get Chanting to over lvl 100 ( been back a forwards doing housework also )
Will definately be back here again some time when i need to level BS and LW
So Fast
I was a lvl 149 when i read this and in 20 minutes I lvl'd to 240. Of course it helped that I had lots of things in my bank but it was so fast I could not believe it. I was a little depressed before this because it was so hard as a priest to move up with any additions to armor. So good on this guide and the hard work it took to make it. Now to look for some mats but most are there.
guess i should have read this
guess i should have read this before i spent 2 g leveling tailoring to 420
Silver rods
A great guide, except that a silver rod (to create a runed silver rod) is hard to come by. From what I read on the web, it's between 4g and 70g, depending on server, economic status and how greedy the seller is.
Haven't found the best way to get this rod yet. It's said to go to a blacksmith and let him create one for you, but haven't found one yet that can.
Every Blacksmith can create a
Every Blacksmith can create a Silver Rod, they learn that recipe from the trainer.
