Shadowlands Inscription Guide

Shadowlands Inscription

This guide provides an overview of the additions and changes to Inscription in World of Warcraft Shadowlands.

Table of Contents

Shadowlands Inscription Trainer Location

You can learn Shadowlands Inscription from Scribe Au'tehshi in Oribos in the Hall of Shapes. (Coordinates: 38.1, 44.7)

Oribos is the new Shadowlands city hub for both factions. You will arrive there after you finish the Shadowlands intro quests, so you can learn the new profession recipes before you head out questing.

Acquiring recipes

All new recipes only have one rank, and you can learn most of them from your trainer. This makes leveling professions much easier since you don't have to grind reputations to get higher rank recipes.

These recipes below are the only ones that you can't learn from your trainer:

New Inscription Materials

Herbs

There are 6 new herbs.

Inks and Pigments

There are 3 new pigments and 3 new inks.

Luminous Pigment and Umbral Pigment are commonly milled from all 6 shadowlands herbs. Tranquil Pigment is milled from Nightshade, or you can also get it from all common herbs, but rarely. (I usually got 1-3 of them form Milling 200 herbs)

Reagents from vendors

These reagents below are all sold by Distributor Au'sha near your trainer.

He also sells a few Twilight Bark but in limited supply, so he won't always have it.

Shadowlands Contracts

Contracts allow you to gain 10 reputation with a faction every time you complete a world quest in Shadowlands. These are not soulbound, so you can sell them at the Auction House. The contract will last for 7 days. You can cancel it by using a contract for another faction, or you can choose to remove it by right-clicking on the buff. Every contract recipe requires at least Revered reputation with the target reputation before you can learn it.

Optional Reagents

Optional reagents are new types of reagents that can change the item level and the secondary stats of the items you craft.

Missives

Missives basically let you choose which secondary stats you want on your armor.

Crafter's Marks

These reagents change the item level of a crafted armor or weapon. (You can actually downgrade an item's item level and its level requirement if you use a lower level optional reagent)

These 3 optional reagents below can only be used to craft items from Shadowlands. All 8 manufacturing professions can craft these, so they are not exclusive to Inscription.

Darkmoon Cards and Trinkets

Darkmoon Card of Death will create a random Darkmoon Card from one of the four Darkmoon decks. To create a full set and get your trinket, you will need to combine the set's Ace Card and 7 other cards from number 2 to 8 of that specific deck.

Darkmoon Card of Death - 7 x Luminous Ink, 7 x Umbral Ink, 1 x Tranquil Ink, 1 x Dark Parchment

Blank Cards

Sometimes you will also get a blank card that can be used to craft a card from a specific deck.

Darkmoon Trinkets

The 4 new Darkmoon Trinkets all have an on-use effect with a 3-minute cooldown.
