BfA Leatherworking Leveling Guide 1 - 175

This Battle for Azeroth Leatherworking leveling guide will show you the fastest and cheapest way how to level your BfA Leatherworking skill up from 1 to 175. The guide's primary focus is to show you how to level this profession, so if you are looking for more detailed information about BfA Leatherworking, check out my Battle for Azeroth Leatherworking Guide.

Leatherworking is the best combined with skinning, and I highly recommend to level these professions together because it will be a lot easier to get the needed materials if you have skinning. So, check out my BfA Skinning Leveling Guide if you want to level skinning. You can also just buy the leathers at the Auction House, but then you will need a lot of gold.

BfA Leatherworking Trainer Location

The new BfA Leatherworking skill is named differently for the two factions, but the name is the only difference between them.

Kul Tiran Leatherworking is the Alliance version and Zandalari Leatherworking is the Horde version.

Leatherworking Trainers:

  • Horde: You can find Xanjo in Dazar'alor at the Terrace of Crafters.
  • Alliance: Cassandra Brennor is in Boralus at the Tradewinds Market.

You can walk up to a guard in Dazar'alor or Boralus then ask where the Leatherworking trainer is. Asking the guard will place a red marker on your map at the trainer's location.

Recipe Ranks

Most high-level Battle for Azeroth Leatherworking recipes has 3 ranks. Higher rank recipes reduce the materials required to create a recipe, and also give skill points much longer.

Make 25 from one of these:

50 - 70

Hardened Tempest Hide is used for crafting some high-level armor. These are basically free skill ups, but even if you didn't use it for anything, this is still the cheapest recipe. Tempest Hide is easy to farm.

50 x Hardened Tempest Hide - 50 x Tempest Hide, 50 x Amber Tanning Oil

Horde players can buy the Amber Tanning Oil from Aman de Child. She is like 30 yard in front of your trainer.

Alliance players can buy it from the Leatherworking trainer.

This recipe will be green for the last 5 points so you might have to make more. (or fewer if you are lucky with the skill gains)

70 - 85

15 x Coarse Leather Barding - 375 x Coarse Leather

Making Shimmerscale Diving Helmet would be cheaper, but the Coarse Leather Barding is much more useful and easier to sell.

85 - 120

Learn the rank 2 recipe from your trainer!

45 x Rank 2 - Coarse Leather Barding - 900 x Coarse Leather

If you have the Rank 3 - Recipe: Coarse Leather Barding, then you can make this one up to 125, and it will cost fewer Coarse Leathers. The recipe is a random drop from humanoid mobs in Battle for Azeroth zones.

120 - 150

30 x Drums of the Maelstrom - 750 x Coarse Leather, 300 x Blood-Stained Bone

150 - 175

Visit your trainer Jada (Horde) / Instructor Alikana (Alliance) at Nazjatar and learn the new recipes. (You have to finish the first few intro quest at Nazjatar before you can see these NPCs.)

40 x Dredged Leather Bladder - 400 Dredged Leather, 200 Nylon Thread

Alternative recipe

If you have 6 Mark of Honor and a bunch of Expulsom that you don't use, then Notorious Combatant's Mail Armguards is a good alternative.

The rank 2 and 3 are sold by Dazzerian (Horde) / Crafticus Mindbender (Alliance) at Nazjatar. You need Leatherworking 160 for the rank 2 and 170 for the rank 3.

I hope you liked this BfA Leatherworking leveling guide, congratulations on reaching 175!
