This Dragonflight Leatherworking leveling guide will show you the fastest and cheapest way to level your Dragon Isles Leatherworking skill up from 1 to 100.
Leatherworking is best combined with skinning, and I highly recommend leveling these professions together because it will be easier to get the needed materials if you have skinning. So, check out my Skinning Leveling Guide if you want to level skinning. You can also buy the leathers at the Auction House, but you will need a lot of gold.

New Dragonflight Leatherworking features
There are a lot of new stats added to professions in Dragonflight, so here is a quick explanation for some of these.
Recipe Difficulty
Recipe Difficulty shows you how much profession skill is required to make a recipe at the highest quality. You can see your current profession Skill below the Recipe Difficulty stat. Your Skill comes from your base profession skill, specializations, profession equipment, racials, and using high-quality reagents. So, your profession skill can go well above 100.
Item Quality
Every crafted piece of Leatherworking armor and weapon has 5 different qualities. Leatherworking Crafted Reagents, Enchantments, and Consumable items have 3 different qualities.
Basically, if you have higher skill, you can make higher ilvl gear, higher quality consumables that give more stat, and higher quality reagents that give more profession skill when used in recipes.
Inspiration, Multicraft, Resourcefulness
- Inspiration: Each time you craft something, there is a chance you get Inspired and craft the recipe with some bonus profession skill, so you can craft an item with higher quality than you could normally.
- Resourcefulness: You have a chance to use fewer reagents.
- Multicraft: You have a chance to craft additional items. (doesn't work on crafted gear, only consumables and reagents)
Dragon Isles Leatherworking Knowledge
Dragon Isles Leatherworking Knowledge points are the "talent points" that you can put into your profession specialization to learn new skills, stats, and bonuses.
Leatherworking Crafting Orders
Crafting Orders are a new way for players to request a crafter to craft something for them. The interface looks like the Auction House, but instead of players posting Auctions, it will be filled with Crafting Orders that you can complete as a Leatherworker.
Completing crafting orders can give you skill points if you complete orders for items that would normally give you skill point.
Commission
Players posting the Crafting Orders can set a commission for the crafter who completes their order. But since they are also providing the reagents for the items, the commission will probably be pretty low for trainer-taught and common recipes.
How to Complete Crafting Orders
Clicking on the Crafting Orders tab at the bottom of your profession window will open up the Crafting Order UI, where you can browse Crafting Orders posted by other players. You must be near a Crafting Table for your profession to be able to access Crafting Orders.
Leatherworking Crafting Table location
You can find the Leatherworking crafting table in Valdrakken at the location marked in the picture below.

First Craft Bonus
You will get 1x Dragon Isles Leatherworking Knowledge talent point each time you craft something for the first time. Dragon Isles Leatherworking Knowledge is very valuable and has a weekly cap from other sources.
Shopping list
This is the total list of materials required to reach 55. The 55-100 part is not included here because there are too many alternative recipes you can use.

Leatherworking Specializations
When you hit 25, you will unlock Specializations. I would suggest having a little bit of a look through the specializations. Spend some time reading through them, then choose which direction you might want to go.
But don't be too hasty with spending points just at this time unless you have a clear goal of which direction you wanna go. The Knowledge points are going to be the limited commodity that you will never be able to get enough of, and you will always want more of. You can continue leveling your profession and return to choosing a specialization and spending knowledge points a bit later.
You will need 50 skill points to unlock the second specialization, 65 for the third, and 75 for the fourth. 50 is not that hard to reach, but it may take you a little while to level all the way to 75. So, be aware that you will have to choose which one you feel you can do without for the longest.

You can still make a few more trainer recipes until you reach 60, but they are all yellow, and they no longer give multiple skill points.
Almost all Leatherworking recipes that give you skill points up to 100 require some soulbound material. It would be almost impossible to farm the needed materials for a single person. Also, every high-level rare and epic recipe will be BoP, so you can't even sell them at the Auction House. You are forced to use the Crafting Order system if you want to level Leatherworking up to 100.
Since the whole Crafting Order system is new and untested, I cannot say which recipes are the best ones yet. I will list the full list of recipes that you can use for leveling to 100.
It's clear to me that Blizzard wanted players to use the Crafting Order system to level up their profession from around 50 or 75. But the reality is that so few people use the system that it's almost impossible to level your profession right now. Crafting Orders are not cross-realm, so if you play on a low-population realm, the situation is even worse. In one Week, I couldn't complete a single crafting order for any of the epic pieces.
Leg Enchants and Optional Reagents
These Leg Enchants and Optional Reagents deserve a special mention because these are the only ones that are not actually soulbound, so you could level with these even without Crafting Orders. However, they don't give skill points up to 100. The optional reagents will give skill points up to 80, and the Leg Enchants up to 75. Both of them will be green for the last five points.
