This Legion Blacksmithing leveling guide will show you the fastest and easiest way how to level your Legion Blacksmithing skill up from 1 to 100.
Blacksmithing is the best combined with Mining, and I highly recommend leveling Mining and Blacksmithing together because you will need a lot of gold if you want to buy everything from the Auction House.
Learning Legion Blacksmithing
First, visit your Blacksmithing trainer Alard Schmied at Dalaran (Legion). Just walk up to a guard in the city, you can ask them where the Blacksmithing trainer is located.
After you learn Blacksmithing, pick up the quest Strange New Ores from Alard Schmied (Requires level 10).
You will need 10 [Leystone Ore] to complete the quest, and the reward will be [Legion Blacksmith].
Unlocking recipes
Blacksmithing recipes are unlocked by doing quests for your profession trainer Alard Schmied.
You should get to level 45 and finish every Blacksmithing quest before you continue this guide.
There is 34 Blacksmithing quest in total, they are pretty straight forward, so I will not write down the details of every quest. Some of the quests lead you to dungeons, but you can finish every quest easily in a few hours if you start them at 50. Otherwise, you will have to wait because later quests have a level requirement.
The last quest is Tribal Knowledge, and the reward is [Recipe: Demonsteel Armguards]. You can buy the rest of the armor set from Urael at Suramar after you complete the quest.
Recipe ranks
Most Legion recipes now have 3 ranks. Higher rank recipes allow you to craft an item for fewer materials, and they stay orange for a lot longer (grants guaranteed skill-ups). Therefore, you should only use rank 3 recipes when you can.
Rank 3 recipes come from different sources like Vendors, World Quests, Reputation, dungeon drops, and even rated battleground win.
If you hover over the little stars in your spellbook, you can see the source of the next rank for the selected recipe.
Leveling Legion Blacksmithing
Lightforged Draenei characters have +10 Blacksmithing skill because of their passive [Forge of Light], and Dark Iron Dwarves have +5 from [Mass Production]. An extra 5 or 10 Blacksmithing skill means recipes stay orange for 5 or 10 more points, so you can save a lot of gold by doing lower-level recipes for a few more points.
1 - 60
60 x [Demonsteel Bar] - 120 x Felslate, 60 x Leystone Ore
Keep all the Demonsteel Bars for the next part.
60 - 100
Demonsteel armors can only be crafted near a Firmament Stone. You can find the stone near Muirn Ironhorn at Ironhorn Enclave in Highmountain. (up at that huge mountain)
Make sure to get the RANK 3 recipe! Higher rank recipes give skill points longer. Also, the rank 3 gives 3 skill points for each craft.
14 x [Rank 3 - Demonsteel Waistguard] - 56 Demonsteel Bar, 28 Blood of Sargeras.
Recipe Location
Rank 1
You can buy the Recipe: Demonsteel Waistguard recipe from Urael at Suramar. I recommend the Waistguard because it's really easy to get the rank 3 version of this recipe.
Rank 2
After you craft any Demonsteel armor the first time, you can talk to Muirn Ironhorn to get the rank 2 recipe for that armor piece. You have to craft one from each if you want to get all of them.
Craft one [Rank 1 - Demonsteel Waistguard] to get the rank 2 recipe. You only have to craft one.
Rank 3
[Recipe: Demonsteel Waistguard - Rank 3] is sold by Strap Bucklebolt for 500 Sightless Eye at the Dalaran Sewers. Check out my Sightless Eye farming guide, and you can get the 500 in about 15-20 minutes.
I hope you liked this Legion Blacksmithing leveling guide, congratulations on reaching 100!
