TBC Classic Engineering leveling guide 1-375

This TBC Classic Engineering leveling guide will show you the fastest and easiest way to level your Engineering skill up from 1 to 375 in Burning Crusade Classic.

Engineering is best combined with Mining, if you level Engineering and Mining together, you will save a lot of gold. Otherwise, you will have to buy everything from the Auction House.

I recommend trying Zygor's 1-70 Leveling Guide if you are still leveling your character or you just started a new alt. The guide will help you to reach level 70 a lot faster.

Playing WotLK Classic?

Use my WotLK Engineering leveling guide 1-450 instead of this guide. There are a few changes to trainers and recipes, so you should use the WotLK guide for the 1-375 part.

Engineering trainers

You can learn Engineering from any of these NPCs below. Just click on any of the links below to see the trainer's exact location. You can also walk up to a guard in any city and ask where the Engineering trainer is, and then the trainer will be marked with a red flag on your map.

Classic Trainers (1-300)

In Burning Crusade Classic, you can learn Journeyman, Expert, and Artisan Engineering from trainers in every major city. You don't have to visit different trainers anymore.

Leveling Engineering

Buy a Blacksmith Hammer from the Blacksmith supply vendor, it's usually near your trainer. (or any general/trade goods vendor)

Gnome Engineering skill racial bonus

Gnome characters have +15 Engineering skill because of their passive Engineering Specialization. An extra 15 Engineering skill means recipes stay orange 15 points longer, so you can save a lot of gold by doing lower level recipes for 15 more points.

1 - 75

  • 1 - 30
    60 x Rough Blasting Powder - 60 Rough Stone

You might even reach 40 with this recipe. You will need the 60 Rough Blasting Powder later, so keep these.

  • 50 - 51
    1 x Arclight Spanner - 6 Copper Bar

You will use this to craft engineering recipes so keep it.

  • 51 - 75
30 x Rough Copper Bomb - 30 Copper Bar, 30 Handful of Copper Bolts, 60 Rough Blasting Powder, 30 Linen Cloth

Journeyman Engineering

Visit your trainer and learn Journeyman Engineering. (Requires level 10)

75 - 135

  • 90 - 100
    20 x Coarse Dynamite - 60 Coarse Blasting Powder, 20 Linen Cloth
  • 105 - 125
    25 x Bronze Tube - 50 Bronze Bar, 25 Weak Flux

Weak Flux is sold by Engineering Supply vendors near your trainer.

Expert Engineering

Visit your trainer and learn Expert Engineering. (Requires level 20)

135 - 200

  • 150 - 160
    15 x Bronze Framework - 30 Bronze Bar, 15 Medium Leather, 15 Wool Cloth

    Keep these too.

By making them now, you might get a lot further - probably towards 160, then stop making these and only make more when you'll need them.

  • 160 -175
15 x Explosive Sheep - 30 Heavy Blasting Powder, 15 Whirring Bronze Gizmo, 15 Bronze Framework, 30 Wool Cloth

Keep 5 of these, you might need it if you choose Goblin Engineering at 200.

  • 175 -176
    1 x Gyromatic Micro-Adjustor - 4 Steel Bar

Keep this, you will need it to craft some of the Engineering recipes.

  • 195 - 200
    7 x Mithril Tube - 21 Mithril Bar

Stop making these when you reach 200. Keep 6 Mithril Tubes, because you might need them if you choose Gnomish Engineering at 200.

Artisan Engineering

Visit your trainer and learn Artisan Engineering. (Requires level 35)

Engineering has the option at skill level 200 to specialize in Gnomish Engineer or Goblin Engineer. Some items require a specific specialization to use, while other items are crafted by one specialization but are usable by any engineer. Fortunately, most recipes that are crafted by one Specialization can be worn by both.

For information on how to choose a specialization, please see my separate guide:

Engineering Specializations in TBC Classic

200 - 300

  • 200 - 215
20 x Unstable Trigger - 20 Mithril Bar, 20 Mageweave Cloth, 20 Solid Blasting Powder

    Save these.

  • 238 - 250
    20 x Hi-Explosive Bomb - 40 Mithril Casings, 20 Unstable Trigger, 40 Solid Blasting Powder
  • 250 - 260
    30 x Dense Blasting Powder - 60 Dense Stone

Keep at least 15 of these, you will need them at 285. Also, you might need to make more than 30 to reach 260.

  • 260 - 285
    35 x Thorium Widget - 105 Thorium Bar, 35 Runecloth

It will be yellow for the last few points so you might have to make a few more to reach 285.

  • 285 - 300
    15 x Thorium Shells - 30 Thorium Bar, 15 Dense Blasting Powder

Burning Crusade Classic (300-375)

To train past 300 in Engineering, you have to visit one of the Master Engineering trainers at Outland. (Requires level 50)

300 - 320

You will use all of these later, so make them now for free skill points.

Crafting one Elemental Blasting Powder creates 4 powder, so you will end up with 80 in total.

320 - 325

7x Fel Iron Bomb - 7x Fel Iron Casing, 14x Handful of Fel Iron Bolts, 7x Elemental Blasting Powder

You might need to make more than 7 of these if you are unlucky with the skill point gains.

325 - 335

30x Adamantite Frame - 120x Adamantite Bar, 30x Primal Earth

You will use all of these later but you can stop making them when you reach 335, and make more later.

If you were really unlucky and didn't reach 335 by making 30 Adamantite Frames, then make a few Adamantite Grenade until 335.

335 - 355

70x White Smoke Flare - 70x Elemental Blasting Powder, 70x Netherweave Cloth

This will be green for the most part, so this is just an approximate number.

Schematic: White Smoke Flare is sold by these vendors:

It's a limited supply item, so if someone bought it before you, you must wait for it to respawn, or you can check the other vendors. (around 7-10 min respawn timer)

If you are buying recipes from Feera, or Yatheon, make sure to grab the Adamantite Rifle recipe as well (also limited supply).

355 - 360

5x Khorium Power Core - 15x Khorium Bar, 5x Primal Fire

There are cheaper alternatives, but you will need these later at 370.

It's not important to reach 360 exactly, just make 5 of them and jump to the next step.

360 - 370

15x Adamantite Rifle - 45x Fel Iron Casing, 30x Adamantite Frame, 60x Handful of Fel Iron Bolts

You might have to make a few more (or fewer) because the recipe will be yellow.

The recipe is sold by these vendors:

It's a limited supply item, so if someone bought it before you, then you have to wait for it to respawn.

370 - 375

5x Field Repair Bot 110G - 40x Adamantite Bar, 40x Handful of Fel Iron Bolts, 5x Khorium Power Core

You might have to make more than 5 because the recipe will be yellow.

The Field Repair Bot 110G recipe is dropped by Gan'arg Analyzer in Blade's Edge Mountain. There are 4 groups of these mobs, but there are around 4-5 minutes between respawns after attacking the first group. The drop chance is pretty high, you will probably get it after you clear the 4 groups the first time. The recipe won't drop twice, so make sure you don't already have it in your bank!
