This Shadowlands Engineering leveling guide will show you the fastest and easiest way to level your Shadowlands Engineering skill up from 1 to 100.
This guide's primary focus is leveling Engineering, but you can visit my Shadowlands Engineering Guide if you want to read more about the new changes, engineering bonuses, and recipes.
Engineering is the best combined with Mining because you can farm most of the needed materials, and you will save a lot of gold. So, check out my Mining leveling guide if you want to level Mining before Engineering. But, the fastest way to level this profession is to buy everything from the Auction House.
Shadowlands Engineering Trainer Location
You can learn Shadowlands Engineering from Machinist Au'gur in Oribos in the Hall of Shapes. (Coordinates: 38.1, 44.7)
Oribos is the new Shadowlands city hub for both factions. You will arrive there after you finish the Shadowlands intro quests, so you can learn the new profession recipes before you head out questing.
You will need tools to craft most engineering items. These are:
- Blacksmith Hammer - Sold by Engineering or Blacksmith supply vendor.
- Arclight Spanner - Sold by Engineering supply vendor.
- Gyromatic Micro-Adjustor - Requires 175 skill in Vanilla Engineering to craft.
To save some bag space, I highly recommend getting a Gnomish Army Knife. It replaces all of these tools, so you only have to carry one item with you.
The Gnomish Army Knife also replaces Jeweler's Kit, Virtuoso Inking Set, Runed Copper Rod, so if you have any of these in your inventory, you can throw it out.
Where to get The Gnomish Army Knife
You can buy the Ultimate Gnomish Army Knife from the Auction House.
If you already learned Draenor engineering, you can craft one Ultimate Gnomish Army Knife for 5 Gearspring Parts. (Craft one Gearspring Parts for 15 x True Iron Ore, 15 x Blackrock Ore. It will actually create 8 Gearspring Parts).
You can also craft Gnomish Army Knife if you have Northrend Engineering, but it's usually more expensive to make or buy.
Approximate Materials Required
- 330 x Laestrite Ore
- 200 x Porous Stone
- 24 x Twilight Bark
- 30 x Luminous Flux - Sold by vendors.
- 30 x Machinist's Oil - Sold by vendors.
- 15 x Oriblase
- 15 x Angerseye
- 20 x Shrouded Cloth

You can buy Luminous Flux and Machinist's Oil from Distributor Au'burk. He also sells a few Twilight Bark, but in limited supply, so he won't always have it.
Check out my farming guides if you want to farm any of these ores:
- Laestrite Ore farming
- Solenium Ore farming
- Oxxein Ore farming
- Phaedrum Ore farming
- Sinvyr Ore farming
- Elethium Ore farming
Leveling Shadowlands Engineering
Gnome characters have +15 Engineering skill because of their passive Engineering Specialization, and Kul Tiran characters have +5 from the trait Jack of All Trades.
Any extra Engineering skill means recipes stay orange for more points. You can save a lot of gold by doing lower-level recipes for more points.
Where is the Anvil in Oribos?
You can find the anvils near the forge in the middle of the Hall of Shapes. It is a bit annoying, but you will have to walk back and forth from the anvil to the engineering trainer.
You can also just buy a Thermal Anvil from the Auction House if you don't want to walk back and forth (or craft one, requires Pandaria Engineering 25). You can put the Thermal Anvil on the ground to serve as an anvil.
1 - 25
You can buy Luminous Flux and Machinist's Oil from Distributor Au'burk. They are not listed in the guide for most recipes since you can buy a bunch of them from the vendor. He also sells a few Twilight Bark, but in limited supply, so he won't always have it.
Both of these will be used in most Shadowlands Engineering recipes, so make all of them now for "free" skill points.

Engineering World Quests in Shadowlands
Engineering World quests pop up every few days in one of the Shadowlands zones. They all give +1 Shadowlands Engineering skill point. Just look for a little Engineering icon on your world map. (requires level 60)
So, if you don't want to rush to 100, you can save some gold by completing these quests.
91 - 97
2 x Flexible Ectoplasmic Specs - 6 Wormfed Gear Assembly, 10 Handful of Laestrite Bolts, 4 Umbryl, 20 Shrouded Cloth
You can make any other goggles. (make the one that your class can use)
97 - 100
It's just simply not worth rushing to 100 with green recipes. I recommend doing the Engineering World Quest every few days for these last 3 points. They show up every 3-4 days. (check the world quest part above for more details) But, if you want to reach 100 faster, your only option is to make more Engineering Goggles.
Schematic: PHA7-YNX is the only recipe you cannot craft anyway, and you can't even buy the recipe until you reach an Exalted reputation with the Ascended faction. Reaching exalted will probably take more than a month of grinding.
Congratulations on reaching 100 in Shadowlands Engineering! Please send feedback about the guide if you think there are parts I could improve or if you found typos, errors, or wrong material numbers!
