This guide has 4 Tailoring specialization builds with step-by-step point allocation. One for crafting your own epic armor, one for daily bolt cooldowns and embellished gear, one for selling spellthreads and linings on the Auction House, and one for cloth farming.
Getting Knowledge Points
This guide is only about builds and where to put your points. If you need help finding knowledge points, check out my main guide:
Midnight Tailoring Recipes & Knowledge Points
Timeline & Unlock Pace
You can get around 40-50 knowledge points on your first day from first crafts and one-time treasures, plus a few more if you have enough renown to buy the knowledge book. After that, you get about 20 per week from weekly quests, treasure drops, and treatises.
The builds below are based on that first 40-50 point mark, and I added suggestions for what to do after that as you get more points.
Specialization Overview
| Specialization | Description |
|---|---|
| Sin'dorei Finery | Cloth armor recipes for all 9 slots. |
| Nimble Needlework | Daily bolt cooldowns and embellished cloth gear. Two branches: Arcanoweave (bolt, cloak, treads, bracers) and Sunfire Silk (bolt, cloak, treads, bracers). Also enables rare cloth drops from mob farming. |
| Fabric Specialist | Increases cloth drop rates while farming. Separate branches for Harandar/Voidstorm and Eversong Woods/Zul'Aman zones. |
| Fiber Arts | Crafting stat boosts for all Tailoring: Skill, Multicraft, Resourcefulness, and Concentration reduction. |
Builds & Talent Trees
Which Build Should You Choose?
Pick the one that fits your playstyle. Each build has step-by-step point allocation so you can follow along.
- Standard Build: A solid all-around starter if you want to craft some epic armor while also getting passive gold from daily cooldowns. We are not trying to min/max here, just a basic setup that gets you started, but it's versatile enough that you can branch into other builds.
- Bolt Crafting: Maximizes your bolt production through Multicraft and Resourcefulness.
- Farming: Increases cloth drop rates and quality in Midnight zones. It's ideal for players who farm a lot or spend a lot of time in open world content, dungeons, and delves. (Mythic Plus dungeon mobs have no loot)
- Armor Crafting: Unlocks epic cloth armor pieces through the Sin'dorei Finery tree. If you want to craft your own gear or fill crafting orders for other players, this is the best path.
Standard Build
This path is for producing Arcanoweave and Sunfire Silk Bolts (daily cooldowns) and crafting epic embellished gear. These bolts are used in most high-end tailoring recipes, so they're always in demand. You also unlock embellished cloaks, treads, and bracers along the way.
0-20 Points
Start by unlocking both bolt cooldowns, so you can get them on cooldown as soon as possible.
Put 20 points into the root node of Nimble Needlework.

Arcanoweave or Sunfire path?
Pick one sub-specialization to start with. Both paths work the same way, you just get different recipes.
| Arcanoweave | Sunfire Silk |
|---|---|
- Put 15 points into the second node to unlock the last sub-specialization. This will also unlock an epic cloak recipe at 10 points.
- Put 20 points into the last sub-spec to get the cooldown reduction on your daily bolt CD and learn an epic bracer recipe. The base CD is around 17 hours, with this talent it's around 8 hours 30 minutes.

Next Steps
Once you have your first bolt path set up, you can transition into the other builds listed in this guide.
Boost Crafting Stats for Bolt Crafting
You can start focusing on getting more Multicraft and Resourcefulness to increase your bolt production and get more gold. Pick the Bolt Crafting build in the guide.
Transition into farming build
If you do a lot of open world content, dungeons, and delves, then you can transition into the farming build listed in this guide to boost your cloth drops.
Transition into Armor Crafting
If you want to unlock epic armor for even more slots or get higher quality gear, pick the Armor Crafting build.
Bolt Crafting
This path focuses on maximizing your bolt production through Multicraft and Resourcefulness.
Bolt CDs & Multicraft (0-50 Points)
This part can be done in any order, but I recommend starting with the bolt cooldowns first so you can get them on cooldown as soon as possible. After that, focus on Multicraft to increase your output for every craft.
- Put 20 points into Nimble Needlework to unlock both Bolt CDs.
- Put 30 points into Creative Efficiency in Fiber Arts to get more Multicraft.
Note: If you want to focus on just mass crafting the regular bolts, you can delay the Bolt CDs and just focus on Multicraft and Resourcefulness first, since those are the stats that will increase your output the most.
Unlocking CDs
Multicraft
Resourcefulness (50-90 Points)
- Put 10 more points into Fiber Arts root. Pick Textile Utilization.
- Put 30 points into Textile Utilization to get more Resourcefulness.

Next Steps
You have your basic setup, now here comes the ugly part. For some reason Tailoring seems to be the only spec in Midnight with small hidden bonuses in random traits and nodes in different trees that boost your skill for all Tailoring recipes. So to reach Gold Quality without concentration, you have to spend a lot more points than other professions need (almost double). Below are multiple paths to get those "hidden" skill and stat bonuses, depending on what you want to focus on.
Focused on Daily CDs
This path takes the CD reduction in the Nimble Needlework tree sooner, so this is best for those who are not really crafting bolts outside the daily CDs and just want to get those on cooldown as soon as possible.
- Put 15 points into the second node to unlock the last sub-specialization.
- Put 20 points into the last sub-spec to get the cooldown reduction on your daily bolt CD. The base CD is around 17 hours, with this talent it's around 8 hours 30 minutes. This is just an example, you can also pick the other side first.
- Do the exact same steps on the other side.
Now both your bolt cooldowns are reduced, so you can get more bolts per week.
CD Reduction on one side
Other side
Next Steps
Pick the other path in here to get more skill, or just transition into any other build in the guide.
Mass Crafting
This path is for those who just mass craft the regular bolts and don't only rely on the Daily CDs. You want to get as much Multicraft and Resourcefulness as soon as possible to increase your output for every craft.
For some weird reason, this node in the farming spec tree gives Multicraft for all Tailoring recipes, so you have to get this if you want to maximize your bolt crafting, even if you don't care about farming at all.
More multicraft and some Skill
- 15 points into Fabric Specialist to unlock the sub-specialization
- 25 points in the right sub-spec to get more Multicraft and some Resourcefulness and skill.

Now you have most of the passive stats, but there are still some hidden ones, so let's get all of them. Then you will be able to craft Gold Quality bolts without concentration.
I don't think the order really matters here, but I would probably get Nimble Needlework and Fiber Arts first, and then the last 5 skill point in Fabric Specialist to get the hidden skill bonus for all tailoring recipes.

Farming Build
This setup focuses on boosting cloth drop rates and quality in Midnight zones. It's ideal for players who like to farm a lot or for those who spend a lot of time in open world content, dungeons, and delves. (Mythic Plus dungeons mobs have no loot)
0-30 points
Put 30 points into the root of Fabric Specialist to unlock both sub-specializations for Harandar/Voidstorm and Eversong/Zul'Aman. This will increase your cloth drop rates in all Midnight zones, and you will also get more Gold-quality cloth.
30-50 points
Put 20 points into the root node of Nimble Needlework. Mobs now will also drop
Sunfire Silk and
Arcanoweave, which greatly increase the number of cloths you get.

50-75 points
At this point you pretty much have all important farming talents unlocked, the only thing remaining is getting the last node in one of these sub-specializations. This will increase the chance to get higher quality cloth in specific zones.
The two sub-spec are for different zones, so pick the one that fits your farming better.
Right: Harandar and Voidstorm
Left: Eversong Woods and Zul'Aman
Only the last trait at 25 points gives you the increased drop rate, so while you are just filling out the node, there is zero benefit to farming.

Armor Crafting
This build is for unlocking epic cloth armor pieces through the Sin'dorei Finery tree. If you want to craft your own gear or fill crafting orders for other players, this is the path.
Learning your first recipe (15 points)
- Put 5 points into the root node to unlock a sub-specialization.
- Pick one of the three sub-specializations that leads to the slot you want to unlock.
- Put 10 points into the sub-specialization to unlock the first recipe for that slot.

More recipes and Skill (45 points)
Now, the next step is to get more skill, while also unlocking the rest of the slots in the sub-specialization.
Max out the two trees in this order:
- Middle sub-spec
- Root node

Stats and Skill for everything (30 points)
Now put 30 points into the Fiber Arts root node to get extra skill for all Tailoring recipes, and also some passive stats. It's better to get this before the slot-specific skills because if you want guaranteed Gold Quality without concentration, you will need this anyway. Getting this now also affects all future slots you unlock, so you might not even need the slot-specific skill nodes for some slots, which saves points you can put into other useful nodes.

Choose your focus
At this point, if you have some profession gear and leveled your Tailoring skill, you should be able to craft your chosen slot at max quality, but you will still have to use concentration for it. From here, you can either focus on getting more skill to craft Gold Quality without concentration, or start unlocking more slots.
Option A: Unlocking All Slots
Pretty straightforward, put 30 points each into the other two sub-specializations to unlock all the other slots.

Option B: Focusing on crafting without Concentration
So the current knowledge point requirement for this is just insane. I'll list each node below that you need to craft Gold Quality without concentration, but be prepared to spend a lot of points in random nodes that don't really give much benefit other than a hidden skill boost for all Tailoring recipes.

When maxing out Fiber Arts sub-specializations, start with the Resourcefulness node on the right first, since that's more useful for armor crafting.
