WoW Forever Fishing and Cooking Leveling Guide 1-300

This WoW Forever Fishing and Cooking leveling guide will show you the fastest way to level Fishing and Cooking together from 1 to 300.

Leveling Fishing takes a long time, so it's best to level these two together, because every fish you catch is also a Cooking recipe and your Cooking goes up for free while you fish. You will still need a lot of patience because you have to catch a lot of fish to get from start to finish. If you only want one of them, use my Fishing guide or my Cooking guide instead.

This guide is still in progress. Everything in this guide comes from the Forever beta clients. Skill requirements can still change before launch.

Level Fishing to 75

If you can choose, level Fishing in Mulgore, because everything is close together there. Harn Longcast in Bloodhoof Village sells both recipes and the pole, and the Fishing trainer stands at Stonebull Lake. Thunder Bluff, where you fish after 75, is right next to it.

If you haven't learned Fishing yet, learn it from Lau'Tiki on the coast south of Sen'jin Village.

Buy Recipe: Slitherskin Mackerel from Zansoa in Sen'jin Village.

Buy a Fishing Pole and a Shiny Bauble there too. (Buy any Aquadynamic Fish Attractor you see and keep it for later.)
Equip your fishing pole, attach a Shiny Bauble, and fish on the coast next to Lau'Tiki, south of Sen'jin Village, until your Fishing skill reaches 75. Almost everything you catch there is Raw Slitherskin Mackerel, about 70 of them.
Learn Journeyman Fishing from Lau'Tiki, it requires level 10.

Buy Recipe: Brilliant Smallfish and Recipe: Longjaw Mud Snapper from Harn Longcast in Bloodhoof Village.

Buy Recipe: Brilliant Smallfish from Martine Tramblay at the Death's Watch Waystation, south-east of Brill.

Buy a Fishing Pole and a Shiny Bauble there too. (Buy any Aquadynamic Fish Attractor you see and keep it for later.)
Equip your fishing pole, attach a Shiny Bauble, and fish in Brightwater Lake until your Fishing skill reaches 75. You will catch about 30 Raw Brilliant Smallfish and 20 Raw Longjaw Mud Snapper, plus some Sickly Looking Fish and junk.
Learn Journeyman Fishing from Clyde Kellen, it requires level 10.

If you haven't learned Fishing yet, learn it from Fenn Fairweather in Shen'dar Village or Baelann Swiftcurrent in Valanaar.

Buy a Fishing Pole and a Shiny Bauble from Belandiel Farflight in Shen'dar Village or Baelann Swiftcurrent in Valanaar. (Buy any Aquadynamic Fish Attractor you see and keep it for later.)
Equip your fishing pole, attach a Shiny Bauble, and fish in any lake or river on Zephras Isle until your Fishing skill reaches 75, for example next to the Fishing trainers in Shen'dar Village and Valanaar. You will catch about 45 Raw Brilliant Smallfish and 30 Raw Longjaw Mud Snapper. Keep all the fish you catch.
Learn Journeyman Fishing from Fenn Fairweather or Baelann Swiftcurrent, it requires level 10.
When you get to Valanaar, buy Recipe: Brilliant Smallfish and Recipe: Longjaw Mud Snapper from Nyalah Brightfire.

If you can choose, level Fishing in Elwynn Forest, because everything is close together there. Tharynn Bouden in Goldshire sells both recipes and the pole, and the Fishing trainer stands at Crystal Lake. Stormwind City, where you fish after 75, is right next to it.

If you haven't learned Fishing yet, learn it from Lee Brown at Crystal Lake.

Learn Fishing from Astaia in Darnassus. There is no Fishing trainer in Dolanaar.

Fishing (75-130) and Cooking (1-100)

Fishing

Fish in the capital city closest to you until your Fishing skill reaches 130. From 75 no fish gets away in any of them. You should catch about 20 Raw Brilliant Smallfish, 60 Raw Longjaw Mud Snapper and 30 Raw Bristle Whisker Catfish.

Thunder Bluff: the pond near the Auction House.
Undercity: the canals. About a third of what you catch here is junk, so you get fewer fish.
Orgrimmar: the pond in the Valley of Honor, where the Fishing trainer stands.

Recipes to buy

Buy Recipe: Bristle Whisker Catfish, you need it in the next part. If you don't have Recipe: Longjaw Mud Snapper yet, buy it too.

Thunder Bluff: Naal Mistrunner sells both.
Undercity: Ronald Burch sells the Catfish recipe, Lizbeth Cromwell the Longjaw recipe.
Orgrimmar: nobody sells them, buy them on the Auction House or in Thunder Bluff.

Cooking

1-50
If you haven't learned Cooking yet, learn it from Aska Mistrunner in Thunder Bluff, Eunice Burch in Undercity or Zamja in Orgrimmar. Then learn Recipe: Brilliant Smallfish and cook all your Raw Brilliant Smallfish. If you caught Raw Slitherskin Mackerel in your starting zone, learn Recipe: Slitherskin Mackerel and cook those instead. This should take your Cooking skill to 50.
If you are a few points short of 50, catch and cook a few more.

50-100
Learn Journeyman Cooking from the same trainer. Then learn Recipe: Longjaw Mud Snapper and cook all your Longjaw Mud Snapper. Your Cooking skill should go above 100.
Don't worry if you don't reach 100 Cooking with Longjaw Mud Snapper, you will catch more Raw Longjaw Mud Snapper later.

Fishing

Fish in the canals of Stormwind City until your skill reaches 130. You should catch about 20 Raw Brilliant Smallfish, 60 Raw Longjaw Mud Snapper, and 30 Raw Bristle Whisker Catfish.

Recipes to buy

Find Catherine Leland in Stormwind City and buy Recipe: Bristle Whisker Catfish. If you don't have Recipe: Longjaw Mud Snapper yet, buy it from Tharynn Bouden in Goldshire.

You should also find Ben Trias and buy 20 Alterac Swiss from him. You will need these later for the Artisan Cooking quest. Beta Note: skip this for now, the quest isn't in the game yet.

Cooking

1-50
Learn Cooking from Stephen Ryback if you haven't yet. Then learn Recipe: Brilliant Smallfish and cook all your Raw Brilliant Smallfish. This should take your Cooking skill to 50.
If you are a few points short of 50, catch and cook a few more.

50-100
Learn Journeyman Cooking from Stephen Ryback in Stormwind City. Then learn Recipe: Longjaw Mud Snapper and cook all your Longjaw Mud Snapper. Your Cooking skill should go above 100.
Don't worry if you don't reach 100 Cooking with Longjaw Mud Snapper, you will catch more Raw Longjaw Mud Snapper later.

Fishing (130-205) and Cooking (100-175)

Expert Fishing needs level 20 and Fishing 125, Expert Cooking needs Cooking 125.

Booty Bay

Go to Ratchet in The Barrens and take the boat to Booty Bay in Stranglethorn Vale.
Find Old Man Heming in Booty Bay, buy Expert Fishing - The Bass and You from him and read it.
Find Kelsey Yance and buy these two recipes: Recipe: Mithril Head Trout, Recipe: Filet of Redgill.

Stonetalon Mountains

Go back to The Barrens, then fly from Ratchet to Sun Rock Retreat in Stonetalon Mountains and buy 5 Nightcrawlers from Kulwia. You need 2 until 150, keep the other 3 for Dustwallow Marsh, where nobody sells them.
Attach a Nightcrawler and fish in the open water until your Fishing skill reaches 205. You will catch about 95 Raw Longjaw Mud Snapper and 145 Raw Bristle Whisker Catfish.

Desolace

Fly to Shadowprey Village in Desolace.
Find Wulan and buy the Expert Cookbook. He is on the top floor of the eastern-most building in the village.
Buy 20 Alterac Swiss from Innkeeper Sikewa. You will need them for the Artisan Cooking quest. Beta Note: skip this for now, the quest isn't in the game yet.

Leveling Cooking to 175

Cook the Longjaw Mud Snapper if your Cooking skill is still below 100.

Read the Expert Cookbook as soon as you reach 125, especially if you go AFK while cooking. Without it you stop getting skill points at 150 and keep cooking for nothing.

Learn Recipe: Bristle Whisker Catfish and make as many as you can. Your Cooking skill will hopefully get close to 175.

Don't worry if you don't reach 175 Cooking with Bristle Whisker Catfish, you will catch more Raw Bristle Whisker Catfish later.

Booty Bay

Go to Booty Bay in Stranglethorn Vale.
Find Old Man Heming in Booty Bay, buy Expert Fishing - The Bass and You from him and read it.
Find Kelsey Yance and buy these two recipes: Recipe: Mithril Head Trout, Recipe: Filet of Redgill.

Ashenvale

Go to The Barrens, then fly from Ratchet to Astranaar in Ashenvale. Ride south-east to Mystral Lake and buy the Expert Cookbook and 5 Nightcrawlers from Shandrina. You need 2 until 150, keep the other 3 for Dustwallow Marsh, where nobody sells them.
Attach a Nightcrawler and fish in the open water of Mystral Lake until your Fishing skill reaches 205. You will catch about 95 Raw Longjaw Mud Snapper and 145 Raw Bristle Whisker Catfish.

Leveling Cooking to 175

Cook the Longjaw Mud Snapper if your Cooking skill is still below 100.

Read the Expert Cookbook as soon as you reach 125, especially if you go AFK while cooking. Without it you stop getting skill points at 150 and keep cooking for nothing.

Learn Recipe: Bristle Whisker Catfish and make as many as you can. Your Cooking skill will hopefully get close to 175.

Artisan Fishing Quest

Everything from here on needs level 35, so I can't test it on the beta right now. It's the Classic route with the Forever NPC pages, I will check it properly once I can get there.

If you have no Nightcrawlers left, buy 3 from Kilxx in Ratchet. Nobody in Dustwallow Marsh sells them.
Go to Dustwallow Marsh and fish in any inland open water until your skill reaches 225. Keep a Nightcrawler on your pole, a few fish get away until 225. Don't fish in the ocean.
Find Nat Pagle and accept the quest Nat Pagle, Angler Extreme. It requires level 35 and Fishing 225, and you need it to learn Artisan Fishing.

Dustwallow Marsh

Tidefury Cove, Dustwallow Marsh

Nat Pagle

To complete the quest you have to catch 4 quest fish in four different zones:

Feralas Ahi - Feralas (attach the Aquadynamic Fish Attractor you kept, or Bright Baubles from Sheendra Tallgrass / Vivianna in Feralas, otherwise most of them get away)
Misty Reed Mahi Mahi - Swamp of Sorrows
Sar'theris Striker - Desolace
Savage Coast Blue Sailfin - Stranglethorn Vale

Nat Pagle, Angler Extreme Quest Fishes

Where to catch the four Nat Pagle quest fish

Leveling Fishing to 255 and Cooking to 225

After you completed the quest, keep fishing in Dustwallow Marsh until your Fishing skill reaches 255.
Go back to Brackenwall Village (Horde) / Theramore Isle (Alliance) to cook your fish, or put down a campfire if you have one.
Cook the Raw Bristle Whisker Catfish if your Cooking skill is still below 175.
Learn Recipe: Mithril Head Trout and make as many as you can. Your Cooking skill will go up to 225. Stop cooking at 225 and keep the remaining Raw Mithril Head Trout.

Artisan Cooking Quest

Fly to Gadgetzan in Tanaris and pick up the quest Clamlette Surprise from Dirge Quikcleave. The reward is Artisan Cooking. The quest requires level 35 and Cooking 225.

You will need these to complete the quest:
- 12x Giant Egg - dropped by the Rocs in Tanaris.
- 10x Zesty Clam Meat - from Big-mouth Clams, dropped by Steeljaw Snappers and Surf Gliders in Tanaris.
- 20x Alterac Swiss - you bought these earlier.
Find Gikkix at Steamwheedle Port in Tanaris and buy these recipes: Recipe: Nightfin Soup, Recipe: Poached Sunscale Salmon, Recipe: Spotted Yellowtail.

Fishing to 300 in Feralas

Fly to Camp Mojache (Horde) / Feathermoon Stronghold (Alliance) in Feralas.
Buy Recipe: Baked Salmon and 10 Nightcrawlers from Sheendra Tallgrass / Vivianna.
Attach a Nightcrawler and fish in the marked lake until you reach Fishing 300, use a new one every 10 minutes. Any other inland water in Feralas works too, except Jademir Lake.

Where to fish in Feralas from 255 to 300

Leveling Cooking to 300

225-250
Cook the remaining Mithril Headed Trout.
Learn Recipe: Filet of Redgill and make as many as you can.

250-300
Learn Recipe: Nightfin Soup and Recipe: Poached Sunscale Salmon, then make as many as you can.
You can also learn Recipe: Baked Salmon at 275 if you caught any Raw Whitescale Salmon.

If you didn't catch enough fish to reach 300, fish a bit longer, or buy a few from the Auction House.
