WoW Forever Camping Guide: Every Profession Camp Item

This WoW Forever camping guide explains how camping works, how you get your first camp, and lists every camp item of every profession, the buffs at tier 1 and the upgrades at tier 2 and 3.

Everything in this guide comes from the Forever beta. Skill requirements can still change before launch.

How Camping Works

Camping is a new system in WoW Forever. Someone puts down a campfire, everyone around it adds a camp item from their own profession (you use it from your bags next to the fire), and anyone who sits (/sit) or crafts next to the fire for a minute gets what those items give for an hour, buffs, a vendor, repairs or a crafting station. You don't need a profession of your own for that, sitting at someone's fire is enough.

A camp in WoW Forever: a campfire with a tent, a camp chair and players sitting around it

  • The campfire is a Cooking item, learned with Cooking at skill 1. You place it from your bags, so you can carry a stack or hand them to others. A basic campfire has 3 slots for camp items, the Journeyman and Expert campfires have 5 and 10.
  • Every profession has three tiers of camp items, at skill 20, 140 and 300. Each tier replaces the one before and keeps everything it gave. Blacksmithing for example:
    • Tier 1, skill 20: Sharpening Wheel, a Strength buff.
    • Tier 2, skill 140: Anvil, the Strength buff plus a real anvil for your recipes.
    • Tier 3, skill 300: Master Forge, the Strength buff plus a forge for the recipes that need one.
  • One camp item per player at a fire, and placing one puts all your camp items on a 1 hour cooldown. A fire with a single item works fine.
  • The tier 1 buffs are weaker class buffs and don't stack with them. The Fish Bowl is a weaker Blessing of Kings, the table below shows which buff each one copies.
  • Camping is for every character, even if you don't care about professions, and you don't need other players for it. Put a camp down while you quest and buff yourself for close to nothing. Any profession works, they are all quick to get to 20, and if you want one buff that fits every class, the Fish Bowl from Fishing gives 8% to all stats. Then just carry a stack of campfire kits and a few camp items and drop a camp whenever you stop. Tip: you don't have to carry Flint and Tinder and wood around any more to make campfires on the spot, craft a stack of Basic Campfire Kits at home and carry only those, they take one bag slot.

Your First Camp

Camping starts with the quest The Great Outdoors, which you can pick up from level 4 in your starting zone. It's a different quest in every zone, this is where you get it:

Race Zone Quest giver
Orc, Troll Durotar Brakk
Tauren Mulgore Kaga Wildhoof
Undead Tirisfal Glades Eleanor Shackleton
Human Elwynn Forest Sam Sarsaparilla
Dwarf, Gnome Dun Morogh Eric Brighthammer
Night Elf Teldrassil Lyreena Duskblade
Skyborne Zephras Isle Raan Wildwind
  1. Do The Great Outdoors, the quest walks you through your first camp.
  2. Learn Cooking in the nearest town, the Basic Campfire Kit comes with it.
  3. Do the Camping 101 quest for each of your professions, you hand it in at your profession trainer. At skill 20 the trainer teaches you the tier 1 camp item.

Campfires and Camp Items

Campfires

The campfires come from Cooking and every camp starts with one. The only difference between them is how many camp items they hold. The Basic Campfire Kit is a trainer recipe, the other two need a Blueprint.

Campfire Cooking skill Camp items it holds
Basic Campfire Kit 1 3
Journeyman Campfire Kit 90 5
Expert Campfire Kit 200 10

Note: the skill in the table is what you need to learn the recipe from the blueprint. Using the kit needs more, Cooking 140 for the Journeyman and 220 for the Expert campfire. It's usually the other way around, so it looks odd, maybe it's a bug, but that's how it is right now.

Where to learn the Camp Item recipes

The tier 1 items come from your profession trainer at skill 20. Tier 2 and 3 need a Blueprint, a recipe item. I haven't seen all of them yet, but the ones that turned up so far dropped in dungeons, so I assume all of them drop from dungeons.

Every camp item

Every item also gives everything the lower tiers of its profession give, the table only lists what each tier adds. So you never have to choose between a buff and a crafting station, a Master Forge still gives the Strength buff of the Sharpening Wheel and the anvil of the Anvil, plus the forge.

The class buff in brackets is what the tier 1 buff is a weaker copy of. A workstation is a crafting station that some recipes of that profession need, like an anvil.
