WoW Forever Tailoring Leveling Guide 1-300

This WoW Forever Tailoring leveling guide will show you the fastest and cheapest way to level your Tailoring skill from 1 to 300. You will also find every trainer location and where to train Tailoring past 75, 150 and 225.

Below you will find the full shopping list, the Tailoring trainers by starting zone and capital city, and the cheapest recipes for every skill range from Apprentice to Artisan. Tailoring uses cloth as its main material, but cloth drops from humanoids, so you don't need a gathering profession and you can combine Tailoring with anything. Enchanting is a popular choice because you can disenchant the things you make while leveling and use the dust to level Enchanting.

Everything in this guide comes from the Forever beta clients. Materials and skill requirements can still change before launch.

Shopping List

These numbers are estimates. Once a recipe turns yellow you won't get a skill point from every craft, so you might need a few more or a few less.

NOTE: You can buy the threads and dyes from Tailoring Supply vendors near your trainer.

Tailoring Trainer Locations

Apprentice Tailoring has no level requirement in Forever right now, so you can learn it on a fresh character.

Capital Cities

Every capital city has a trainer. You can also ask a guard, then it will be marked with a red flag on your map.

Apprentice Tailoring (1-55)

  • 1-30
    30x Bolt of Linen Cloth - 60 Linen Cloth

    It turns yellow at 25, so a few of the last crafts won't give a point.

    Keep the bolts, you need all of them for the belts.

  • 30-55
    28x Linen Belt - 28 Bolt of Linen Cloth, 28 Coarse Thread

    Yellow from 50, so the last few belts might not all give a point.

Journeyman Tailoring (55-125)

You can only train Tailoring past 75 if you learn Journeyman Tailoring. It requires Tailoring 50 and level 10, and not every trainer teaches it, you have to find an Expert Tailor.

  • 55-80
    45x Bolt of Woolen Cloth - 135 Wool Cloth

    Learn Journeyman Tailoring before you start making the bolts! (trainers above) Apprentice Tailoring stops at 75, so if you craft all 45 at once and go afk, every bolt after 75 gives no skill point.

    The bolts turn yellow at 70 and green at 77, so the last ones won't all give a point. Make all 45 anyway, because you need every one of them for the next steps.

  • 80-85
    6x Woolen Cape - 6 Bolt of Woolen Cloth, 6 Fine Thread

    The cape is yellow here. If the bolts already took you past 80, just make capes until 85.

  • 85-95
    11x Gray Woolen Shirt - 22 Bolt of Woolen Cloth, 11 Fine Thread, 11 Gray Dye

    Yellow from 90, you might need one or two more.

Leveling from 100 to 125

The beta level cap is 20 right now (30 soon), so Silk Cloth and Mageweave Cloth are rare and expensive on the Auction House. The wool route uses Wool Cloth for as long as possible, even when the recipes are yellow or green. After that it only uses silk until 190, no Mageweave.

The wool route is only for the beta. Once the cap goes up to 30, the mobs you level on drop silk, so the silk route will probably be the cheaper one on the beta too. I keep both routes here until then.

  • 100-125
    29x Double-stitched Woolen Shoulders - 87 Bolt of Woolen Cloth, 58 Fine Thread

    Make 85 more Bolts of Woolen Cloth first (255 Wool Cloth). You won't get skill points from the bolts anymore.

    The shoulders turn yellow at 110, so the last 15 points take around 20 crafts.

  • 100-120
    170x Bolt of Silk Cloth - 680 Silk Cloth

    Make all 170 here. You only need around 40 to reach 120, but you will use every bolt until 180, so none of them are wasted.

  • 120-125
    5x Azure Silk Hood - 10 Bolt of Silk Cloth, 10 Blue Dye, 5 Fine Thread

Expert Tailoring (125-225)

To become an Expert Tailor you need Tailoring 125 and level 20, then find an Expert Tailoring trainer. It costs 50 silver.

You can learn Expert Tailoring from Josef Gregorian in Undercity (Horde) and Georgio Bolero in Stormwind City (Alliance).

Leveling from 125 to 190

The same two routes continue here, stay on the one you picked at 100.

  • 125-150
    52x Gloves of Meditation - 208 Bolt of Woolen Cloth, 156 Fine Thread, 52 Elixir of Wisdom

    Make 208 more Bolts of Woolen Cloth first (624 Wool Cloth).

    The gloves are yellow from 125 and green from 140, so you will need a lot of them (around 20 just for the last 5 points).

    You can buy Elixir of Wisdom from the Auction House or ask an Alchemist.

  • 150-170
    20x Crimson Silk Vest - 80 Bolt of Silk Cloth, 40 Red Dye, 40 Fine Thread

    From here you have to switch to Silk Cloth, because there are no more wool recipes that give skill points. Make around 180 Bolts of Silk Cloth first (4 cloth each), you won't get skill points from them anymore.

  • 170-190
    24x Crimson Silk Pantaloons - 96 Bolt of Silk Cloth, 48 Red Dye, 48 Silken Thread

    The pants turn yellow at 180, so the last 10 points take around 14 crafts. It's still cheaper than switching to Mageweave, because Mageweave Cloth only starts dropping from level 40 mobs and it's really expensive on the beta.

  • 125-135
    12x Azure Silk Hood - 24 Bolt of Silk Cloth, 24 Blue Dye, 12 Fine Thread

    Yellow from 130, a few crafts won't give a point.

  • 140-150
    100x Bolt of Mageweave - 500 Mageweave Cloth

    Make all 100 here. You only need around 17 to reach 150, but you will need every bolt until 225.

  • 180-190
    12x Orange Mageweave Shirt - 12 Bolt of Mageweave, 12 Orange Dye, 12 Heavy Silken Thread

    The shirt is yellow from 185, count on one or two extra.

If you play on the beta, this part is probably not worth doing yet. Mageweave Cloth only starts dropping from level 40 mobs, so it will stay rare and expensive until the level cap goes up.

  • 190-225
    36x Black Mageweave Leggings - 72 Bolt of Mageweave, 108 Silken Thread

    The leggings turn yellow at 220, so the last few points take a couple more crafts. You can make the Black Mageweave Vest instead, it uses the same materials.

Artisan Tailoring (225-300)

To train Tailoring past 225 you need Tailoring 200 and level 35, then find an Artisan Tailoring trainer.

You can learn Artisan Tailoring from Daryl Stack in Tarren Mill, Hillsbrad Foothills (Horde) and Timothy Worthington in Theramore Isle, Dustwallow Marsh (Alliance).

This section can't be tested on the beta right now. I have a rough draft based on the datamined skill ranges and what I expect the materials to cost, and I will probably post it later, but everything here will only be tested properly after live, once I can get high enough to level through it. Meanwhile I'm checking vendors for recipe changes.

A lot of skill ranges changed compared to Classic Era, so don't follow the Classic guide for this part, most of its recipes turn grey 25 to 45 points earlier in Forever.
